So I love taking actions. Especially the ones that make me smile, feel good, or simply allow me to connect to another human being.
But I have been in this place of doing because I said so before and it feels so much like something "I have to do" that it takes out all the joy of the action for me.
I prefer doing because I want to.
These days, I declare and commit a lot around who I am being. Because the funny thing, when I am being my infinite self, actions seems to really take care of themselves.
My two cents :)

Why does it have to be "limitations"? Maybe find a different, more empowering word instead. Perhaps "boundaries"? Sometimes changing the words can shift your perspective as well. Just a thought. :)

Excellent post. As someone who will be working full-time for myself, from next year, I will have to consider this issue very carefully.

this is something I know a lot of people struggle with, me included. I also suffered from the illusion that I ought to practically give my services away - especially when I did work that I would do for nothing just because i enjoyed it. Specifics of market aside, it's about appreciating the value of the service you offer, and that special something that only you can bring to it. It's also about learning to become better receivers. Some people aren't good at receiving - whether it's money or love or something else. Knowing this is really powerful. If you offer something special, price it accordingly I say. If someone really wants to work with you who can't afford you, you can always come to special arrangements. But as a rule, people will be under no illusions about what you and your service are worth and they'll appreciate what they get even more.

Yup... I've gone both ways. It's a tough question, but I tend to err on charging more.... but... when times are slow you gotta take what you can get, but I will usually express that to the client so they know they are getting a special deal, and that they are not allowed to go around telling others what they paid ;P
